Purpose:
This study has been performed for evaluating the route of the optic nerve by Vision Evoked Potential Technique in the candidates who referred to Ghods Clinic for surgery of PRK.
Methods:
In this observational study which has been done as cross-sectional analytic- descriptive study, 25 patients who referred to Ghods Clinic for surgery of PRK were selected as available and they were under VEP test. The result of mentioned test including voltage and delayed phase were determined and also they were compared to the findings of 25 subjects in control group.
Results:
there was not any statistical meaningful difference between two groups with regard to the recorded mean voltage of VEP as 6.76 with SD 1.8 mV and 7.08 with SD 2.3 mV in case and control group, respectively (P> 0.05). Also, the mean of recorded delayed phase in VEP were 99.25 milliseconds with SD 3.4 and 98.84 with SD of 4.7 milliseconds in case and control groups, respectively; however, there was not any statistical meaningful difference between two groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion:
Totally, according to the results of these studies it is inferred that the recorded voltage and delayed phase in test of Vision Evoked Potential in candidates of PRK does not show any meaningful difference to control group.
