Purpose:
This study was performed to determine the frequency of muller cell dysfunction by electroretinogram test in patients with night blindness attending to Ghods Clinic.
Methods:
In this cross-sectional descriptive-comparative study, 25 consecutive patients with night blindness attending to Ghods Clinic were enrolled and the frequency of muller cell dysfunction according to ERG
results in them including voltage and latency was determined and compared with muller cell dysfunction in 25 control subjects.
Results:
The mean voltage was 112.6 ± 12.1 microvolt and 112.5 ± 10.7 microvolt in case and control groups, respectively (P > 0.05). The mean latency was 43.6 ± 1.8 millisecond and 43.4 ± 1.9 millisecond in case and control groups, respectively (P > 0.05).
Conclusion:
Totally, according to the obtained results in this study and comparison with other studies it may be concluded that muller cell dysfunction in patients with night blindness would not result in amplitude and latency changes.
