Purpose:

To determine the underlying etiology of cranial nerve palsy and multiple sclerosis.

Methods:

Fifteen patients who presented with acute SCN paralysis to clinic during the last 12 years were examined.

The age at the time of admission ranged between 24 years and 36 years (median,29.5 years). Sixth cranial nerve (SCN) palsy is an uncommon but important neurological problem in patients with multiple sclerosis

Conclusion:

The most frequent first symptoms of multiple sclerosis are the following: sensory symptoms, optic neuritis, motor and cerebellar syndromes, and cranial nerve palsy is rare presentation
