Purpose:
Ocular injury by mustard gas in topographic pattern has not been described in detail yet. This study was conducted to compare pentacam pattern and parameters in DMGK,corneal scarring and normal eyes.
Methods:
This study was performed on 20 DMGKs cornea of 14 patients without previous surgery except punctual occlusion. The participant mean age was 49.64 years. Scarring group include 20 corneal from 17 patients . The mean age of these patients was 51.60 years. Corneal scarring caused by herpes simplex keratopathy , trachoma and etc. Twenty eyes from 20 normal persons are included as normal group (mean age=42.25). Pentacam maps were taken by oculus HR. Refractive maps and parameters including front and back cornea astigmatism, pachy apex, thinnest locate, k max, cornea volume, chamber volume and A.C. depth were compared between 3 groups.
Results:
Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in thinnest locate, k max, pachy apex and cornea volume between groups. In DMGKs, superior steepening was more common and in corneal scar irregular pattern was more than others.
Conclusion:
Pattern and parameter of pentacam were different in DMGK and corneal scar in comparison with normal eyes.
