Purpose:
|
To describe the epidemiologic characteristics and clinical patterns of uveitis patients presented to a tertiary ophthalmology center
|
Methods:
|
In this cross-sectional study between January 2013 and December 2014, uveitis patients who had been referred to the uveitis clinic in Khatam-Al-Anbia eye Hospital affiliated to Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, classified and analyzed with respect to age, gender, anatomical, etiologic and clinical features and treatment modalities.

Results:

Among 235 uveitis patients, the mean age was 35.73 years (range: 3-82 years), and female to male ratio was 1.5/1 .Pan-uveitis (48.9%) was the most common pattern followed by anterior uveitis (34.0%), intermediate uveitis (12.8%) and posterior uveitis (4.3%). Bilateral involvement was seen in 63.8%. There was no specific diagnosis in 28.5% o (idiopathic). The most common etiology was idiopathic and then Behcet in anterior uveitis, idiopathic in intermediate, toxoplasmosis in posterior uveitis, Behcet and Vogt Koyanagi Harada (VKH) in pan-uveitis .The most common associated systemic disease was Behcet disease. Noninfectious uveitis (81.7%) was more frequent than infectious (18.3%). Prednisolone, Methotrexate and Azathioprine were the most common medication used.

Conclusion:
|
Uveitis clinical pattern is different according to the geographic location and study center. The most common associated systemic disease is Behcet disease in this study.
