Cataract is a common disease in the world and the most common causes of vision loss and blindness. The disease is caused by many factors, the most important is aging. Other risk factors include age, sex, and smoking, and sunlight, place of residence, family, job, and systemic disease. This study was aimed to evaluate the epidemiological cataract refer to Noor eye clinic in 1394 was carried out.

This study is a descriptive and cross-sectional method. I study population, patients with cataract who have been admitted Noor eye clinic in Birjand 1394. 386 have been selected. Sampling is done in class. Information from the Check list includes variables such as age, sex, smoking history, diabetes, Location, separate left and right eye, family, job, Cataract diagnosis, their records are collected and then analyzed using SPSS software version 20 is located.

In 386 cases studied, most of the women (56.5%). The mean age of patients 67.4±2.9, It is more commonly seen in the right eye, diabetes (13.50%), hypertension (21.1%), (31.9%) urban and (68.1%) rural and the most common clinical referrals decreased visual acuity was counting fingers. The prevalence of type Cataract respectively was nuclear cataract, cortical and sub capsular cataract.

Since one of the common eye diseases is cataract and according to the age group (50-79) years and women were housewives, and diabetes is more common, the need for planning in the multi group it is essential to prevent and control cataract. Key words: cataract, epidemiology, cataract surgery.
