Purpose:
To present a rare case of orbital myofibroma
Methods:
Myofibromas are rare and benign neoplasms which affect soft tissue, bone, or internal organs mostly in children. Orbital involvement represents an uncommon entity of this tumor. Clinical appearance and imaging findings are unspecific for this tumor and histological examination remains the definite method of diagnosis, which shows a central zone of immature spindled to rounded cells arranged in a pericytic pattern and a peripheral zone of myoid nodules.Herein we present a five years old male patient with a progressively growing mass in the left orbit
Results:
Herein we present a five years old male patient with a progressively growing mass in the left orbit which showed extension to the lacrimal gland region and frontal bone erosion on CT scan images. The mass was surgically excised and diagnosis was confirmed by histological studies. There has been no evidence of recurrence in the first year after surgery. In this report we present the clinical, histological and radiographical findings of this case which is important to be differentiated from other malignant tumors with a similar presentation.
Conclusion:
In this report we present the clinical, histological and radiographical findings of this case which is important to be differentiated from other malignant tumors with a similar presentation.
