Purpose:
|
Hospital-based Registry System for eye injuries is an organized information resource and a main part of patient management strategy, which designed for collecting, organizing, and analyses of data related to patients with eye injuries. Due to the key role of this registry in preventing and better care management, this study aimed to study the current status of the eye injuries registry system in hospitals affiliated to medical universities in Tehran

Methods:

This was a cross – sectional research and the population of the study included the registry system for eye injuries in hospitals affiliated to medical universities in Tehran. Using purposive sampling, 4 hospitals delivering specialized eye care were selected. Gathering data was done through observation and interview using a check list and a questionnaire. The validity of the tools was ensured through content validity and the reliability of the questionnaire was assessed by test-retest method (r=0.87). The analysis of data was performed using descriptive statistics and the frequency percentage.

Results:

Results showed that none of the hospitals have a comprehensive hospital registry system was not in compliance with standards, But only has an information system that was designed for semi-mechanized. in any of the hospitals did not use the terminology standard eye injury. Besides the fact that all hospitals classified data and descriptive statistics were doing but in none of them Statistics analysis was not performed on the data eye injury. And to none of the control system was not qualitative.

Conclusion:

Due to the lack of an efficient hospital-based registry system for eye injuries in Iran, Designing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated system can help to improve the quality of care and facilitate the monitoring of patients as well as minimizing the related costs.
