Purpose:
To report a case of subconjunctival worm with a rare presentation of diurnal photophobia and 6
injection.
Methods:
The present report describes a subconjunctival dirofilariasis in a 59-year-old man presented with 8
foreign body sensation, localized tenderness and redness in his eye during the day.
Results:
After removal of 9
subconjunctival 10 cm worm, the diagnosis was compatible with dirofilariasis immitis. Identification was 10
conducted using authentic diagnostic clues based on the morphological appearance. Ocular examination was 11
normal one month later except for faint temporal conjunctival scar.
Conclusion:
Subconjunctival dirofilariasis could present as diurnal photophobia and injection.
