Purpose:
|
In this study, we investigate the association between polymorphism of CFB gene (rs 41551667) and AMD disease in the Northeast of Iran
|

Methods:
|
The association of rs4151667 polymorphism of CFB gene was investigated in 40 patients suffering from dry AMD originated from Northeast of Iran (Gonabad) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP).Also, 45 healthy age, sex and ethnicity matched unrelated people were included in this case-control study as controls which were selected from the same population.To evaluate the differences between groups we used t-test ,Chi-Squared and Fisher exact test.

Results:
|
The results of the study showed a significant difference in genotype frequency between patients and controls (p value < 0.05), so that TT genotype frequency in case group higher than controls? group (0.95 vs 0.86, p= 0.014) but AT genotype frequency in AMD patients lower than controls (0.0.05 vs 0.13, p= 0.031).

Conclusion:
|
In conclusion, rs4151667 polymorphism of CFB gene have role in the development of AMD in Northeast population of Iran.
