Purpose:
|
To investigate the association of CFI p.Gly119Arg polymorphism with Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in the Iranian population.
|
|
Methods:
|
In this study, after ophthalmological examination, 120 patients with confirmed AMD and 120 healthy controls from Iran (Tehran) were enrolled. The association of CFI p.Gly119Arg polymorphism was investigated using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP).

Results:
|
Investigation of the association of p.Gly119Arg polymorphism in CFI gene with AMD showed that there are statistically significant differences between patients and controls in genotypes (CC,TT) and alleles frequency of this polymorphism(P<0.05).

Conclusion:
|
In This study showed a significant association between this polymorphism p.Gly119Arg CFI gene and AMD disease.
